Augmented Reality – a reality in the making?

We accept that Augmented Reality is now everywhere, especially outside of aerospace and defence, augmented reality is now mainstream. Over the last few months TDW has produced multiple tutorials around this specific subject and given examples from mainstream information producers and how they have embraced augmented reality to enhance their products and support, training and maintenance services.

Over the last eight months TDW, in partnership with Lionbridge, have been performing a study into the understanding, attitude and perception of augmented reality based technical information in aerospace and defence. The results of this study are now available and we will be releasing a full paper with Lionbridge shortly with key study data points.

At this year’s TDW-Live TDW will be presenting the findings of the study, leading in to a full augmented reality presentation from Wendy Farrell from Lionbridge.

If you would like to know more about the study you can contact us here at TDW, follow Lionbridge on their social channels or come along to TDW-Live.

There is still time to join us at TDW-Live and see more augmented reality in action, if you can’t make the event in person, we have online tickets available so you can join the event remotely and view a live stream of the conference!

Mike Ingledew

A trained aircraft engineer (rotorcraft), I entered in to the field of technical information writing S1000D data modules on a major European military platform.

After a series of high profile project roles and the privilege of supporting clients worldwide, I ended my 'employed' career at a subsidiary of Boeing Aircraft after I decided to leave and focus on TDW full-time.

From my time supporting clients worldwide, I could see that there was a market need for an independent organisation that could be a trusted advisory source for those needing to implement successful technical information strategies.

I am passionate about the art of technical communications and the process, software and skills needed in our market.
